Frequently asked questions and “after class” services began to flood my inbox, not because I did not deliver the training properly, but WordPress is not just a “1 day course” kind of thing. It requires a lot of exposure and practice, and then you will realise which area u will need help when you get along the way.

I hope this step by step guide will help everyone of you.

Step 1: Register Of Domain and Web Hosting

Before we begin, Let me explain what is a domain and hosting, in a layman term. Please bear with me if you already understood.

What is a Domain

Layman explanation – A domain is like a business name, if you want to own a business, first of all you need a business name. Before you buy a mobile phone, you will need a phone number to work.

Proper explanation – Computers communicate by using numbers, called IP addresses, to contact each other, much like you use a phone number to dial a specific person’s phone. Domain names on the internet are much like entries in a phone book. The phone book tells people looking for a business what the entries are just as a domain tells people (i.e. their computers) that a domain is hosted on the server.

For example:

What is Web Hosting

Layman explanation – Let’s say you want to open a retail shop that sells shoes. After registering your business name, you need to rent a space to showcase your shoes. The web-hosting or server is much like the space that you rent out to have your business in. It’s merely the space itself for you to save all your files. It does not include furnishings like shelves for your products, just as the web-hosting account doesn’t include a site for you to sell your products.

Proper explanation – Web hosting is a service that allows organizations and individuals to post a website or web page on to the Internet. A web host, or web hosting service provider, is a business that provides the technologies and services needed for the website or webpage to be viewed in the Internet. Websites are hosted, or stored, on special computers called servers.
